What do you think of Sarah Palin?

August 30, 2008 at 2:13 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

To all who have been visiting…as soon as summer ends I should be blogging regularly again. I was just wondering what everybody thought of the Republicans VP nomination, Sarah Palin. It’s seems she’s a faithful attender of this church and from what i’ve read was the president of the fellowship of athletes in her school and a strong supporter of all the values that are important to me in electing a public official. While people are asking what her experience is at least she has some track record and she is taking the VP slot. On the other side you have someone with less experience, who has some charisma and great speaking ability, and he has a shot at becoming the president. (not an endorsement ether way just a clarification). The more I read about Palin the more I’m amazed, but is she a good VP pick? Thoughts?

To all those out there that are singing the song of “oh I don’t talk about politics.” Good for you..but I happen to talk about them, and I’ve never been one to go with the flow of what is cool at the time. Ill just let you be cool :) I will say again, one of the main reasons why elections are becoming so polarizing is because people understand what is at stake not so much with presidents policies but their appointment of supreme court judges. To be honest, I was considering, and almost certain, I was not going to cast a vote for a presidential candidate this year. Anyways, let the debates begin, but as for this conservative, I got the fire i needed to be excited about this election. Congratulations to Sarah Palin on being the first woman VP nomination of the Republican Party!

I think McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin was very strategic and intelligent as well. While it is true that she is not as experienced as Mc Cain, she has great promise. If you look at her past deeds in elected office she has accomplished much. She is a great speaker and will do well against Senator Biden. While it is true that she may have to study or research some issues to come up to speed, I believe that she is not a shirker and will do what needs to be done to get there. It seems that she has a good set of values and is obviously against abortion. Many have already started to raise the question of whether or not she will be able to be a good mother to her young children if she is vice president, but it is clear that her husband supports her and will work together with her. I pray that her family is blessed!

Did you see those videos and pictures with he with the machine gun? She rocks.

My first thought was: She looks like Kim Stanley. As far as experience-it seems that she has more the Obama. Tim Meeker predicted this VP choice about 2 months ago.

It think y our comments Kevin are the sentiments of a lot of people, which are good. Palin reminds them of a outgoing, sharp, likeable person they have known sometime in their life. and…Dude did you see the MACHINE GUN!!! THATS CRAZY!!!!

I think History will speak for itself if McCain is elected. War is only justified when it is necessary, and Iraq was not a necessity. I am sure that most of you think Sarah Palin is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I believe this country is going to end up learning the hard way if the failed economic polices, job loss, outsourcing, failures of fema in Natural disasters, etc. There will always be conservative arguments to discredit me, as a progressive, but I can’t see how a president can have a 30 percent approval rating, and a GOP ticket of pretty much the same ideology could win. I know if it happens, it will be a disaster for America.

    Hi Dave.

    Thanks for the comment.

I don’t know how to address what you are saying other than to say I am certain Mccain is not like Bush. As a matter of fact, I was not going to vote for Mccain until he got Sarah Palin. Also, isnt interesting the base was not excited about Mccain, Chrsitian conservatives like Dr. Dobson criticized him. Doesnt seem like Bush to me. This 90% thing Obama is peddling is bologna. Mccain isdefinitely not a party boy. If people would stop drinking the kool-aid they’d realize Mccain is a moderate…and probably the best choice out of the two candidates. Regardless. I am a conservative and i’ll say it again. I would not vote for Mccain alone, and i know others just like me, that should say something. So maybe the Liberals should wake up from their daze at their Messiah and start facing reality. Mccain is NOT another Bush.

Approval ratings? Did you see what a Democratic congress is getting?

Progressive? You dont get much more Progressive than Sarah Palin. IF you mean liberal than you may be have some other arguements.

  11. Dave said,

The Democratic congress only has mediocre ratings because Bush has used his veto power to veto everything and we did get the minimum wage increase. Nevertheless the congress before that had low approval rations as well I also believe that we have helped get rid of corruption in Washington. No more Rumsfeld, or Alberto Gonzalez who lied more often than he told the truth I think.

Obama is not a Messiah; no politician is a messiah and all our leaders are just flawed human beings. The country is so divided and America is a country of extremes. So many groups of people that think the other side is wrong, and all the conflicting forces in America all think they have the truth. Only God knows the truth.

As for Mccain being another Bush or not, I can’t answer that question. Mccain has changed his mind many many times on issues like tax cuts for the rich, guantanamo bay prisoners rights, torture, and now even Immigration. If he is going to be that way as president I would never know what he would do.

As for Palin, I am trying to not focus as much on her but on the candidate who actually is running. It will be interesting this Fall to see how this thing pans out.

    HI Dave,

Thanks again for the comment. I enjoy a good debate.

Im going to try not and be sarcastic, but you do realize Bush has vetoed like hardly anything. Thats for starters. Second, you talk about a divided America- Mccain is the only moderate running. You may have a point had your party chose Hillary, but Obama is like as far left as you can get. It would be like having Pat Buchannan or Rush Limbaugh running for president.

If people would not judge Mccain in light of Bush, it is crystal clear that Mccain is a logical choice. HOwever, if america wants to punish Mccain for Bush’s failures thats Americas choice. My feeling is they will not. When push comes to shove America will make the right decision no matter what the polls say. When they go to the polls and they think to themselves- Who do I want a freshman Senator or a 20 year veteran and war hero who HAS experience brining America together (Hence Leiberman speaking at the RNC)… they WILL chose Mccain.

Bro, Mccain is a moderate. He is your man. Im telling you, I was not going to vote for him. Im a conservative not a “progressive”. If Mccain had his way he would have picked Lieberman as his running mate. Dont be surprised if Lieberman doesnt get a cabinet position.

Im not worried. I could be wrong, but I think its in the bag for Mccain. He stopped “the messiah’s” momentum quite skillfully and he wont have a chance to use his oratory gift to awe everyone. He’ll have to win debates which Im quite certain he’ll have problems- that why he has AVOIDED them up to this point.

John McCain’s voting record for 2007: according to a 2008 Congressional Quarterly study, McCain voted in support of the Bush administration’s position 95 percent of the time in 2007, making McCain the administration’s most reliable supporter in the Senate that year. I don’t think he’s the “maverick” he pretends to be.

  14. mservello said,

    Again D,

Whatever… In 2007…okay what exactly did he vote with him on. Obama says Mccain voted with Bush 90% of the time. More than half of what is voted for is nonsense anyways…. naming a bridge after this person and so on. Tell me what exactly does Mccain agree so much on with Bush. What I keep saying is (which none of these Dems seem to be hearing) I dont even like Mccain- BECAUSE of his positions. Honestly, Mccain could easily be a Democrat. Didnt Kerry want him for his VP pick in 2004? C’mon this nonsense has to stop. Lets just be honest. I am. In this election Im not voting for Mccain. Im voting for Palin. McCain is a moderate. He is probably more bipartisan that any person running for office in the last 30 years.

  15. D. Wiley said,

John McCain also has a history of not telling the truth. Remember when he said he just walked around Baghdad with no protection of any kind and no flak vest, and then the pictures came out with him surrounded by soldiers and with a flak vest on? Here are also some quotes directly from him which show that he says whatever he thinks is convenient:

MCCAIN: I believe that success will be fairly easy. (9/24/2002, CNN)

MCCAIN: I believe that we can win an overwhelming victory in a very short period of time. (9/29/2002, CNN)

    MCCAIN: Easy.

    Easy.

    It was easy. (1/10/2007, MSNBC)

MCCAIN: The American people … were led to believe that this would be some kind of a day at the beach which many of us, uh, fully understood from the very beginning would be a very, very difficult undertaking. (8/22/2006, CNN)

MCCAIN: I knew it was probably going to be long and hard and tough. And those that voted for it and thought that somehow it was going to be some kind of an easy task, then I’m sorry they were mistaken. Maybe they didn’t know what they were voting for. (1/4/2007, MSNBC)

  16. mservello said,

    Again

Whatever…Is that the best we have? As if politicians cant change their mind when they get more informed.

Im not sure where you got those quotes but I’d love to see the whole context. Everyone who follows politics knows that Mccain was a hound on Rumsfeld and openly disagreed with is policies.

As far as being bipartisan. With your whole 95% thing
    FACT: -

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/15/records-show-mccain-more-bipartisan/

Again, Let’s be honest. and make this about truth.

  17. mservello said,

McCain a liar? Oh and I know, Obama is saint. He NEVER lies. NEVER changes his mind. NEVER spins anything. NEVER plays to public opinion. I got news for everyone. They all stretch the truth… Except for….( in a loud scream) SARAH PALIN!

I would also recommend reading realclearpolitics.com in addition to the huffingtonpost

    GO SARAH BARRACUDA!!!

  18. D. Wiley said,

McCain may have “worked across the aisle” with people, but much of those are bills he has repudiated. He is even saying now he won’t vote for a bill he co-sponsored about 6 months ago. As for “context”, he said what he said above – I’ve seen the clips — and he’s talking about the war. That’s the truth. He’s trying to make himself look better than he was.

Check out the congressional quarterly and you will find what McCain’s record is:
95% with Bush in 2007, 90% with Bush over the last 7 1/2 years. That’s the truth.

She ain’t gonna be the pres — he is… barracuda or not…

  19. mservello said,

    Hi D,

Look, instead of throwing out percentages, talk issues. What is it that McCain voted for that you disagree with. What did he vote against?

    http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/is_it_true_john_mccain_voted_with.html

Obama voted with Bush 40% of the time and almost 97% party line. So, What are the things that McCain voted for that Obama didnt that were of any consequence?

And yes, you’re right Palin wont be president, Mccain will.

Also, Bad McCain! Trying to appear better than he was. Can you imagine that? Oh, thats right, Barack “the Messiah” Obama never ever has done or would do anything like that…

Wait! Oh wait…There’s his association with Bill Ayers, Father Flager, and Rev Wright. Oh, of coarse he never heard any of those messages, of coarse he wasnt involved in corruption. Of coarse. He’s soooo perfect.

Sorry for the sarcasm, Im just so frustrated with people comparing Mccain to Bush and not talking SPECIFIC issues.

    If Mccain was LIKE Bush

Hannity would have liked him…he didnt, he reluctanly supported,

Rush Limbaugh the same, oh wait, James Dobson the same, and PAt Robertson…and do I hear Laura Ingram too….WOW? He must be JUST LIKE Bush. LOL…YOu guys have really drank the kool aid. At least I admit, why im voting for Palin, rather than smearing OBAMA.
