Generation Conference 2008 (Part 3)

July 24, 2008 at 5:07 pm (church events, generation conference) (, , )

Another highlight for me from this year was the intensity of the worship. I think this year we went to another level. I was just chatting with some people from another church who attended the Genconference and they were telling me about how 15 of their mediocre kids from their youth group ran to the front of the church this sunday to worship. Kids who would never do this sort of thing- All because of what they had just got swept away in at Gencon. Even as I am writing this blog, my words do not do justice to what happened. For example, our thursday night service went from 7:00-11:20 with 95% of the young people totally engaged. That speaks for itself. Their was an electricity in the air that was almost tangible. On Friday night the same thing -7:00-11:00. We would have gone longer but the Aud wanted us out. I think the majority of kids were disappointed when we had to wrap it up. I think this year was so special because of two things. First, the worship team itself spent weeks preparing themselves spiritually and musically. Many of them fasting food and all of them fasting regular activities like movies and such. The second, was the youth group at mount zion. They spent a week coming to the church every night the week before the conference fasting and praying for God to move significantly at the conference. And he did. Boy, did he ever. I think anybody who came to the conference this year will tell you there was just something special that God did that you cant quite put into words.

As I read Part III of the GenCon, Joel 2:28 came to mind. In the Message Bible it says, “And that’s just the beginning: After that — I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: Your sons will prophesy, also your daughters. Your old men will dream, your young men shall see visions.”

Michael, I believe that you seeing the beginning of something great within the the youth of MZM, AND to all those who participate in the GenCon. The transference of the Holy Spirit will follow attendees wherever they go. It’s amazing that the conference is at the Auditorium - a round building - distributing God’s Glory in a 360 degree circle, nothing or no one can be missed! Apostle C’s word to our church years ago was that the next great revival would begin with the youth - and man I believe we are beginning to see that happen right here in Utica, NY! Be Blessed Man Of God! Pastor C

    hey pastor mike,
this is jasmine williams. As you know i just started coming to mt.zion
and my first visit i felt that god wanted me at mt. zion.I felt the presence of god through the whole building. At the generation conference, thursday morning service right befor steve furtick came up i decided to give my life back to god.It just touched me so much to see so many kids my age at the gen con.because most of the freinds i hung out with was only interested in gangs drugs and partying.I never got interested in the gang thats one thing no matter what i will never be interested in.but they had gotten me to do others. And thursday i just decided to ask god for forgiveness and decided to start living for him and serving him only.I met so many new people and freinds at gen con and i just wanted to personally thank you because if i never started mt. zion and never went to gen con i don’t have the smallest clue of where i would be today. You and mt. zion has touched me so much because never would i have thought to see so many christians and positive people lined up in UTICA to serve god and god only. it’s amazing what you are doing for utica youth…THANK YOU!!
