Worry..

May 13, 2008 at 3:07 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

Mark Conner did a great job speaking on the subject of “Worry” at the City Bible Church Conference. I really needed it. Last year we had a little boy in our church old die suddenly of the flu. I  wish I could tell you that it didnt affect me or I don’t worry about my own children -but I do. As a matter of fact, every time my kids sick my mind races back to that memory. It just so happens that right before I left for Portland my youngest was throwing up and unable to keep down even liquids. All the fears started flooding my mind once again. Right before Mark’s session I called my wife to see how my little Bucca (my nickname for Daniela) was doing. She told me she was still sick. Then Mark got up and started sharing the word. It was a God moment for me. Don’t you love church, the word of God, and how the Holy Spirit works? Its as if the service was just for me.

Back in Portland, Oregon…

May 9, 2008 at 10:59 pm (church, personal) (, , , , )

I wrote this post once but for some reason it didn’t go up?!? Anyways, its hard to believe its been 13 years since I graduated from Portland Bible College. Some of the greatest memories of my life took place in this city. Its hard to believe how much the city has changed in just a few short years - Downtown has changed, NW 23rd has changed, the airport has changed and City Bible Church has changed. WOW! Change is part of life, but I guess it becomes all the more amazing when you are removed and return to see it. Talk about change, after one of the meetings I suggested to some friends that we go to one of the “cool places” I used to hang out at while i was in College. The person looked at me and said, “What?!? Nobody goes there anymore.” I felt like Billy Madison arriving for his first day of high school with a REO Speedwagon shirt on and a T-top firebird :) I will say this revisiting City Bible and some of my favorite places brought back a flood of memories attached to a lot of emotion. All in all it was fun, but believe it or not i did get a lot of business done. I met with Ranjy Thomas form Flying Rhinoceros  about help with our online strategy for our children’s ministry. All i can say, is I was thoroughly impressed with Ranjy and I KNOW it was a God-ordained appointment. I look forward to friendship and insight from his incredible gifting and leadership. I also had a chance to sit down with Mark Conner for a chat on strategy. Mark was brilliant as usual. All in all it was a great trip. I don’t know when I’ll be back to my old stomping grounds but i sure do look forward to it.

Well I have been so busy I havent had a chance to even think about writing on my blog. Thanks to all you who have checked back to see if I was updating. I thought I’d post some pictures today that would show you where I have been part of my time (not so much with the children’s part but the lobby). The final touches are being put on our new children’s wing and here are some pics…
