Revolution Conference In Oshawa, Ontario

April 30, 2008 at 2:20 am (church, church events, personal) (, , , , )

I had a great time in Oshawa with Pastor Frank Seixas and his crew. Me and Mark Schilling (our youth pastor) went up to speak at a youth conference this past week. The weekend was more than just one of those good times there was a real bond in the spirit that happened and I look forward to a long term relationship with this church. The group of interns and young adults were impressive. There was a great atmosphere of cooperation, buy-in, ownership or whatever you call it that was tangible. They really have a good thing  going on. After the Sunday night meeting we went out to a restaurant with the young adults group and just talked and talked until we basically got kicked out of the restaurant. It was GREAT! On a side note, Pastor Frank had us over for lunch on sunday for Brazilian Steak. He gave me what looked like a 4 pound steak and It was so good I ate the whole thing. Thanks To Pastor Frank for a great weekend. If you are interested, one of the interns, Curtis, is a rapper. He is a great guy and I thought i’d post this video of him from Kingdom Bound….Check it out!

Awakening Conference…

April 23, 2008 at 3:02 am (Speakers, church events, generation conference) (, , , , )

I had such a great time at the Awakening Conference with my friends at New Life Worship Center. In only it’s 2nd year the conference was mind blowing. It was good to see Darren Whitehead again. He did a youth leaders session that really impressed upon me once again the seriousness of our job to this generation. The Awakening Conference impressed me so much I don’t know where to begin. At the top of my list is there integration of diversity. We had everything from Rap, to Hip Hop, to R&B, to Rock to Punk, and somehow it all blended together beautifully. Kind of a great picture of the kingdom of God. If you haven’t checked out the generation conference website lately I’d like to announce Jordan Boyce is one of our speakers at the Generation Conference. He is 17 years old and can bring down the house. If you are coming  Im sure you’ll enjoy him! Well, Im still super busy. Im headed to Oshawa, Ontario this week for the Revolution Conference. My youth pastor and Myself will be speaking there. I appreciate any prayers as always.

Live from the Awakening Conference…

April 18, 2008 at 4:48 am (Speakers, church events, personal) (, , , , , , , )

I have the incredible privilege of being back at the Awakening Conference this year. It’s one of thee best youth conferences in the entire nation held right here in Rhode Island at New Life Worship Center. I gotta give it up for Marco Debarros and the youth team here. Chris Hill was here last night. The dude hit it out of the park. That guy can preach. And get this, the guy gets done preaching a masterpiece, Im talking a homiletical wonder,  and then tells me afterward, “oh I got that this morning.” Im like…I quit. Thats like a an artist going up to Michaelanagelo and saying, “How long did it take you to paint that ceiling?” The guys was literally off the charts. Tonight I had the awesome privilege of meeting Aaron Gillespie. Aaron is in the band Underoath and The Almost. He did a fantastic job speaking and brought home the  importance of knowing God loves us and connecting with him. The guy loves Jesus and is super genuine. The conference also had a band by the name of This Beautiful Republic that were just GREAT. Well, Pray for me. I have one last session tomorrow with youth pastors and I am asking God to make my words be a catalyst for revolution in the youth ministries represented. I covet any prayers. Sorry for the absence from  the blogosphere but I am running around like crazy.

Great Meeting Today…

April 13, 2008 at 10:11 pm (church, leadership, personal) (, , , , )

I had two great meetings today. Cornerstone (our Albany campus) continues to amaze me. Every week we are growing and their seems to be a greater and greater expectancy in the air. We are already knocking down walls and expanding our kids rooms and sanctuary. Today was extra special because not only was at our Albany campus but I also got to have lunch with Buddy Cremeans from NorthwayChurch.tv. Buddy pastors a rapidly growing church that has three locations. I actually visited one of his services a couple of weeks ago. I got to say that I really enjoyed meeting him and was totally won over by his heart and vision. Its great to get together with people who infuse life and vision into you. Buddy is one of those guys. With our new work in Albany, I look forward to partnering with him to impact the capital region and the northeast.

Submission to Authority

April 13, 2008 at 2:07 am (Books, Theology, leadership) (, , , , )

Been super busy, but caught up on reading a few blogs. Brendan Witton put up a great post from Rick Renner on Submission to Authority. This doctrine has been abused by some but the baby cant be thrown out with the bath water. I remember having dinner with John Bevere and him talking about his book Under Cover and saying that some of the most important doctrines that we need in our lives are sometimes ones that have been taken to extremes and therefore we avoid them. The answer is not avoiding them, but honoring them in a biblical fashion. Check out Brendan’s post here. It’s worth the read.

Busy…

April 3, 2008 at 6:54 pm (Uncategorized)

Anybody who knows me, knows I am a scatter brain. I’ve not been diagnosed with ADD but my friends probably would bet I am. I have never been great with multi-tasking, but have learned to manage over the years. Due to the crunch time with the children’s wing I have taken over the project management of the remodel of the Lobby from my maxed out children’s pastor. It’s a lot of work, but when its done it should be really cool. Got a meeting with the designer today. Im supposed to be meeting with him now but he’s running behind. Hopefully, all this will be over by May.

Opening Day has Finally Arrived!

April 2, 2008 at 2:30 am (personal, recreation) (, , )

newyorkyankees_article.jpgCongratulations to Joe Girardi on his first win as the new skipper of the 2008 New York Yankees. As I said  in an earlier post, as a long time Yankee fan,  the Joe Girardi signing was one of my favorites in close to a decade. The Yankees look great and should win it all this year :) Also Phil Hughes, the young yankee phenom pitcher, has a blog. Check it out if you get a chance.

After Easter…

April 1, 2008 at 4:08 am (church, church growth, personal) (, )

It was great to celebrate the easter attendance, but I was shocked at the numbers from this weekend as well. All together we had 1358 people at one of four services. The momentum continues to build…
