books-boundaries.jpgI left my house at 8:00am this morning and here it is 8:00pm and I am in my office waiting for my wife to pick me up. Today we hosted a Live simulcast for a Boundaries seminar featuring Dr. Henry CLoud and Dr. John Townsend brought to us by CCN. It went till 4:00 so I didn’t bother going home since I needed to be here for our Saturday night service by 5:30. I had the incredible opportunity to meet Dr. Cloud and spend some time with him about a month ago. I had heard of him but to be honest I didn’t know much about him. Knowing he was a christian psychologist , I asked him a bunch of questions regarding our churches strategy to help people with various issues relating to emotional and spiritual health. In the last 15 years I have been through a lot on those topics: Larry Crabb and Jay Adams, Neil Anderson and Paolo Bottari, truth encounter and power encounter. All of the above mentioned have good things to say but in honesty I always felt a missing component. I was explaining this to Dr. Cloud when he said (in a humble, non self promoting way), “you never read any of my books have you.” Then he told me to pick up his book Changes That Heal & 12 Christian Beliefs That Will Drive You Crazy. He also told me to look into CCN since his program and conferences are beamed in live via satellite. So…I did  what he said and bought the books and signed up for CCN. Today we hosted the Boundaries seminar. All I can say is EXCELLENT!!!! AWESOME!!!! SOLID!!!!. Seriously it was quality. Changes That Heal has been probably one of the most life-changing books I have ever read. I am sold! I have been recommending and giving it away to people like crazy. I actually am considering giving it to every pastor and youth pastor that attend the Generation Conference. I believe Dr. Cloud in that book clearly articulates God’s process of change in our life. After reading the book, I cant believe these books have been around all these years and I missed them. If you haven’t read anything by Cloud-Townsend, I cant emphasize how important it is that I think you should. By the way, their website is incredible resource.

I came to staff meeting after literally spending a few hours engrossed the day before and encouraged my entire staff to read it. Mark jumped right on it. He was wise to do so. Any Pastor who is interested in REALLY walking people through the issues of life should pick up this book.
