Great Friends pt2 (Benny Perez)
Here’s to my good friend Benny Perez!
You can catch him on TBN tonight at 7:00pm EST. I have known Benny now for (its hard to believe) 11 years. I first met Benny when he was single and a youth pastor in the small town of Marrysville, Wa. A friend of mine had told me of how a guy from California had moved to the “strawberry fields” of Marrysville and had led a youth revival there that had seen at its peak have over 900 students attending weekly. Thats all he had to say to get me to fly across the country to see what was going on. I’ll never forget visiting Marrysville and that small church that had all those teenagers cramed into it. It was a dream come true. Those days are long gone, but recently Benny stated a church in Las Vegas, NV. He has grown quickly seeing attendance shoot to over 2000 people in 3 short years. He’ll be here next week at our Generation Conference.
Benny never ceases to impress me. His passion for God and his passion for people make him a perfect fit for our conference theme this year. Out of all the ministries I have seen come through our church I have to say he’s one of my favorites. He truely operates in an anointing for miracles. I have seen some pretty dramatic stuff when Benny gets locked into a flow.
Love God. Love People. Its not just a message for him…Its his life.
Great Friends…
I know i havent posted in a while. I have been unbelievably busy, but i thought i would post about the great frinds i have been given. This fall we are doing a series on commuinty in the church. The subject came up of how important are relationships in regards to relationship with God, spiritual maturity, involvemnt, and even outreach. The answer is simple…Extremely important.
I thought i would post about my good friend Chico Woo. Chico never ceases to amaze me with his variety of skills that he possesses. Chico is a great preacher. He’s funny, charismatic, not to mention prophetic. In recent years, Chico has become a minor christian celebrity over in Korea. Something all of his good friends are forever breaking his chops about. It is not unusual for Chico to leave once every couple months to go preach to crowds of over 10,000 people…However this is not why I am posting about him. Speaking in front of thousands doesnt impress me enough to post about it…What impressed me is that on Saturday my wife and i went to a graduation party for the daughter of one of the couples in our church. Their was Chico, BBQ apron and utensils in hand using one of the other talents God gave him- grilling meats. Chico is the grill master. Ask anybody that has had his BBQ. Anyways he was doing all of the cooking for this graduation party. Again, Chico’s BBQ is nothing short of heavenly and that may motivate me to post about it, but thats not what i am posting today. What impressed me was here is this guy who is preaching to thousands and yet it isnt beneath him to help out a person in the church who needs him. There was something about going to that graduation and knowing who chico is and seeing him serving this family that made me proud to be his friend that i couldnt have gotten seeing him preach to 100,000 people. That’s quality. Thats a great friend.
